Oklahoma Chapter presents Educational Excellence Award and Scholarship
The OK Chapter of NNALEA Executive Committee met on May 11, 2004. The committee's first action was to present an "Educational Excellence Award" to the Pryor Oklahoma Boys & Girls Club. Using the proceeds of the donation from the "Phil Carmen Team Penning Event" held last year in Tulsa, Oklahoma show responsiveness to donations earmarked for a specific purpose and validates best practices for Native American youth. Positive acts to support, encourage and recognize Native American youth is a NNALEA governing principal and shows a real commitment to Tribal community involvement. It is also good to recognize the Pryor Oklahoma Boys & Girls Club members who gave an excellent performance at the 2003 NNALEA National Training Conference in Fort Worth, Texas. The Oklahoma Chapter also awarded a $500 scholarship to Walter Buffalomeat, a 2004 graduate of Sequoyah High School.
